Jesus Conquered the Powers of Darkness
Series: At the Cross
"The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil." (1 John 3:8b, esv). At the Cross, Jesus Conquered the Powers of Darkness. He defeated the enemy, satan. We live in that time between satan's fatal wound and his ultimate destruction - he still flails about and can cause harm, but it is merely the thrashing of the dying dragon ... he holds no power, no fear, no threat of a comeback. We can choose to let him wreak havoc in our lives or we can walk in the Light as children of the Light."05_Conquer" from 02_AtCross by G. Scott Patterson. Released: 2017. Genre: Other.

    Jesus Paid Our Ransom
    Series: At the Cross
The word "ransom" brings thoughts of kidnapping to our mind. And I guess that could still work to illustrate this aspect of what Jesus did on the cross. But in Bible times, the word was used whenever someone had been sold to pay a debt. When we sin, we incur a debt that we cannot pay. Jesus took away the punishment (see, Jesus Took God's Wrath) but He also paid the debt we owe. "For the Son of Man came [..] to give His life as a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45)"03_Ransom" from At the Cross by G. Scott Patterson. Released: 2017. Genre: Other.

    Jesus Took God’s Wrath
    Series: At the Cross
God keeps His Word - and that includes when He said that He would punish sin. We may wish that God were a "forgetful, doting grandfather" who looks the other way or even pats us on the head when we act mischievously (aka "sinfully"). But that is not the true God. Thankfully, graciously, God allowed Jesus to take our punishment, His wrath, for us."02_Wrath" from 02_AtCross by G. Scott Patterson. Released: 2017. Genre: Other.

    Jesus Began a New Covenant
    Series: At the Cross
When Jesus died, many things changed and were accomplished. One of them was that through His death, God established a new covenant with His people. From that moment on, we would "operate" under a new agreement with God. Think about that ... the God of the Universe has made a promise to us!"01_Covenant" from 02_AtCross by G. Scott Patterson. Two Touches
Mark 8 contains a very out-of-the-ordinary miracle. In order to completely heal a blind man, Jesus gives him two touches. Jesus did not experience a “power failure.” There is good reason for these two touches. Sometimes we can “see” but just not clearly. We know and believe some things about Jesus, but not fully. Perhaps Jesus was speaking to people like that through this miracle.

    Traditions That Trap
"Cleanliness is next to godliness." Perhaps the best-known Scripture that is NOT in the Bible. Some people want to use their own ideas of what it means to follow God rather than what God actually said. Jesus had a confrontation with a group of people like that, a group that thought "being clean" on the outside meant they were just fine on the inside. They were wrong."06_Traditions" from 01_Mark by G. Scott Patterson. Released: 2017. Genre: Other.

    Hope Beyond the Grave
Spoiler alert! Either Jesus is going to return (and we will be transformed in the twinkling of an eye) or we are going to die. There is no getting around it. So then what? And let's be honest, what you believe about it doesn't matter - I mean, there's either something beyond the grave or there isn't, no matter what people think. As Christians, we choose hope for what's beyond the grave."05_Hope" from 01_Mark by G. Scott Patterson. Released: 2017. Genre: Other.

    Fertile, Firm, Fickle or Fooled?
What happens when you hear God's Word? Do you reject it? Give tacit agreement to it? Perhaps you lay hold of it ... at least until you forget about it. Jesus compared our hearts to four different kinds of soil; hard, shallow, infested with weeds and good. Which are you?"04_Fertile" from 01_Mark by G. Scott Patterson. Released: 2017. Genre: Other.
